My grandmother Tillie Zanowiak opened
the Windsor Restaurant in Seymour, CT.
It was the first establishment in town
to have full liquor service (wine, beer
and spirits). My father Stephen, a professional
musician, joined the business, and with
my grandmother’s partner, Bill,
they provided a place where people could
enjoy excellent food, refreshments and
entertainment.
While my father served his country in
Europe during WW II with the 449th Anti-Aircraft
battery, my mother Annette pitched in
to help run the Windsor. After the war
ended, business flourished (it even survived
the flood of 1955!), but new construction
of Route 8 forced them to relocate in
1958.

Finding a beautiful 1840’s colonial
home rt. 67, they purchased the house
and built a colonial style retail building
and licensed it as Oxford Liquor Shoppe
in 1959. My grandmother and parents ran
the business until they retired in 1983
and I purchased the store.
With the help of my family, and my loyal,
dedicated employees, we continue to offer
what people expect: the finest products
and best service available.
Thank you for your continued support.
We look forward to seeing you soon! .
